5 pm — WILD CARD DRAWING EARLY INTEREST
Saint Kilda might not get his midseason draft wish, with multiple clubs having picks before the Saints are looking for an exciting hybrid forward Hugo Hall Kahan.
Hall-Kahan, a middle-sized forward who has finally overcome a terrible run of injuries, has started 12-10 in six NAB League games for the Dragons this season, impressing with his athleticism, speed and stamina. AFL clubs see him as a player who could play on either flank or even a wing.
Hall-Kahan has been heavily associated with the Saints, who tried to nominate him as an NGA prospect after discovering at the end of the picture that he was eligible under the rules, only for the AFL to deny the request.
While the Saints would love for Hall-Kahan to slip into their pick (Pick 14), several other clubs are considering him. Essendon (Pick 3) has put work into the Dragons striker, while he is also in the mix to be taken by the Giants (Choose 5), although the Bombers are monitoring the West Adelaide midfielder joseph carmichaelthough the Giants are understood to have met with the Western Jets defender Massimo D’Ambrosio repeatedly.
port adelaide (Pick 8) has also been linked to Hall-Kahan.
16:30 – WARM-UP OF FEET TO DERKSEN
Collingwood is likely to select a key position prospect with his first midseason draft pick (Pick 9).
While the Feet had been watching the Williamstown defender Kalan Dawsonit is understood that North Melbourne will likely pick him in Pick 2.
However, the Feet also have an interest in wade derksen — a 196cm prospect from NT who also has VFL experience at Essendon.
Derksen has kicked seven goals and averaged 12.3 eliminations and 4.6 marks in three WAFL league games for Peel Thunder playing as a traveling forward.
However, both the Giants (Pick 5) and Suns (Pick 7) have been linked to Derksen, meaning he could be drafted before he reaches the Feet.
10:50 am: PICK 1 PROMO ‘NOT EXPECTING’ TO LAND ON THE WEST COAST
Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Jai Culley has revealed he “doesn’t expect” to land on the West Coast in Wednesday night’s midseason draft.
Culley is set to be taken with a top pick, with the Eagles talking to him earlier this week and expected to take him.
However, speaking on SEN on Wednesday morning, the 19-year-old suggested otherwise.
“I didn’t really get a bar to be honest, so I don’t expect to go to the West Coast,” he said. SEN breakfast.
“But if it happens, I’ll be fucking excited.”
