Open Mess in Alt-House

This “feast of art for good” brings together Melbourne’s artists, chefs and food businesses, from illustrator Alice Oehr and Food for Everyone’s Gem Leslie to Florian, Bread Club and Saul’s Sandwiches.

Art and food collide in a fundraiser that celebrates some of the best things in life: cakes, sweets and bread.

Top local artists are auctioning off their work for a cause: bidding on pieces by painter Libby Haines, designer and founder of the Food for Everyone social enterprise Gemma Leslie, illustrator Alice Oehr (the art of cake), photographer Lauren Bamford and Archibald Award finalist Zoe Young. There will also be a silent auction featuring more original works by emerging artists.

If all food-related art whets your appetite, get the real deal with baked delights and flavors from Florian, Bread Club and Saul’s Sandwiches, plus sweets from Holy Sugar, Chic de Partie and Thy Caketh.

All proceeds from the auction will go to the team at the University of Sydney’s Nano Institute, to help with research into how nanobots can be used in the treatment of cancer and heart disease.

Tickets include admission to the event and a drink on arrival.
