May may seem like a long way from the spooky shadows and atmospheric departures of fall, but the fifth month kicks off with something spooky: Half-o-Ween, or Halfway to Halloween, if you prefer.
So it makes spooky sense, as the month wraps up, that we’re now looking at one of the pre-pre-pre-Halloween events, a convention starting in June that’s all about the wonders of monster movie makeup, characters icons from the silver screen, and ways to upgrade your favorite spot at home, when the time comes.
And to help us hone our ghost-focused skills?
It’s Monsterpalooza, a three-day festival dedicated to horror films, clever cosmetics and costumes, and all sorts of whimsically wicked ways to pull off cool effects in your own backyard.
A host of professionals, industry greats, and horror actors will be at the Pasadena Convention Center June 3-5, giving advice, reflecting on famous monsters, and upping everyone’s game when it comes to setting things up for a haunted October garage, trail terror, or whatever you hope to build.
Several luminaries will appear at the 2022 event, including Tim Curry, the Pennywise many people remember from their childhood, and several “Scream” greats, including Neve Campbell, Matthew Lillard, Skeet Ulrich and Jamie Kennedy.
Tobin Bell and Shawnee Smith from the “Saw” movies, as well as several other well-known works, also make the list, as do a host of beloved artists.
More spooky summer events will be flashing soon, like a pumpkin patch on October 31st, but Monsterpalooza is certainly one of the biggest of the bunch.
Did you celebrate Half-o-Ween in early May? Are you already thinking about how you would like to approach fall in terms of costumes, porch decorations, the perfect party for your fellow Halloween?
Halloween starts now, or rather June 3, 4 and 5, at this mega monster convention in Crown City.
